Some time has passed since The Amortals Live and we are still reminiscing on what an experience that was!!

There are nights you attend a show. And there are nights you become the show.

On April 13th, 2025, at The Alchemist located in Nairobi, Ras Amor did not just launch an EP — he launched a feeling. A movement. A mirror into ourselves. The night was about reminding the city how good it feels to feel everything. But let us rewind and take you through the important bits and pieces that came together perfectly and made Amortals Live a success.

It started quietly. In the slow-building weeks before the event, Ras Amor aligned with the Meister Network. This is a curated circle by Jägermeister Kenya, of rising cultural forces and creatives who are making impact in the entertainment scene. For an artist whose very name speaks of love and happiness (Amor — “love”), it made perfect sense. The partnership with Jägermeister Kenya was a stamp, a co-sign from one of the coolest brands breathing new energy into African creativity. Jägermeister did not just partner; they backed a vision and played a crucial role in the event’s success.

Home 254, a Kenyan fashion brand, stepped in as sponsors to not only dress Ras Amor but also the Spellcast Media Choir — who were opening the show with Ras Amor. With this, the energy surrounding Amortals Live shifted from hopeful to undeniable.

And when it was show day, Nairobi did not disappoint. They showed up!

The gates opened at 6:00pm and before Ras Amor even touched the mic, the stage had already started to smolder! The audience was treated to a sonic journey led by a stellar lineup of Kenyan Artists — Jairus Mola, Aphropatra, Clef and Bandana, and African Vic — each taking their turn, setting the stage with their unique sounds. Guiding the flow of the evening was none other than the only MC with an LLB, MC Kibunjah, as his infectious and charismatic energy hyped the crowd while Nik The Deejay kept the atmosphere electric, spinning a curated setlist of the best Kenyan music. This played a key role in Amortals Live as all these acts ensured that the audience was fully immersed in the local soundscape before the main act.

Then he — Ras Amor, emerged. Under the soft neon glow of The Alchemist; live, raw, and unfiltered chords sliced through the night air. Carried by the mighty Jukebox Band, the smooth, golden sax of Kimbassax, Mathai Njama on the lead guitar and draped in a red sweat-suit set from Home 254. Then the journey began.

The first notes of the Amor EP floated out — a blend of African heartbeat and global soul, stitched together by lyrics that spoke more to that place inside you that still believes in magic and less to your mind. And he wasn’t alone.

The Spellcast Media Choir stepped on stage alongside Ras Amor, ready to breathe new life into “Jahera” and “I Can See The Sun”, two soul-stirring tracks from his newly released EP. When they sang, it wasn’t just music—it was like being in Eden on Earth. An invocation. You could see it in the swaying of the crowd. And Nairobi was singing back.

From there, the stage was a rotating canvas of talent. From Mutoriah’s hauntingly beautiful vocals, The Babaz’ infectious energy, Hornsphere’s brass-infused magic, and Brandy Maina’s magnetic presence — all wove into the night’s tapestry. Each artist brought their fire on stage and Alchemist pulsed with an almost spiritual connection.

As the night reached it’s peak, Ras Amor, Kimbassax and Jukebox Band launched into a reggae mashup — a tribute to the roots of joy. The crowd at this point, was a sea of moving bodies and raised glasses, hands and voices chanting along. The energy, electric. The vibe, unbreakable. For 90 minutes, we weren’t fans. We were family.

And just like that, it was over. With Ras Amor receiving a celebratory bouquet and cake from his A-Team that helped in planning and organizing the Amortals Live.

After the stage lights dimmed, Ras Amor was surrounded by friends, fellow artists and industry peers as they laughed, exchanged hugs and clinked glasses of Jägermeister. The air was thick with the kind of satisfaction that only comes when art meets purpose, and succeeds.

Amortals Live 1.0 wasn’t a concert. It was a beginning.

The kind of beginning you tell your friends about years later: “you had to be there.”

And if this was the first….the next?

Nairobi better get ready to catch the fire all over again.
